As I sit here at my desk and write this entry I’m finally able to take a deep breath. I know it’s only a momentary pause, but it’s one that I’m thankful for after such an exciting and busy week.
OK, pause over! It’s UVA FOOTBALL SEASON! While I’m sure Greg Slater (you should click on his name, he’s got a great blog that you should read) will laugh out loud when he reads that sentence, I am really excited for the 1st game of the Mike London area tomorrow night at Scott Stadium. While I am a huge college football fan that is not what excites me the most.
What excites me the most is that tomorrow is a great test run for the next month of my life. A large number of people concentrated in a relatively small space means that I’ve got the opportunity to talk to a TON of people about 29 Days Until 29! I’m even more excited because, thanks to Dani Antol of Rock, Paper, Scissors, I’ll have some official 29 Days Until 29 business cards to hand out!
Dani helped to design the cards using a logo that my good friend Barbara McCauley designed. Problem is, despite being promised that they would arrive today in the mail, the original cards aren’t going to show up until after I leave on Tuesday. I e-mailed Dani in a panic and she quickly talked to the folks over at T&N Printing who came thru BIG TIME and delivered 250 cards this afternoon!!! I plan on showing them off to you guys in a post later this weekend, but I need to give a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone that helped today!!!
So while the game will be fun, the tailgating will be more fun. In what is a drastic departure from the status quo for me, I’m going to be wearing my @abolishcancer t-shirt as opposed to my usual shirt and tie. I can hear Greg laughing at me again… Yes, I maintain the tradition of wearing a shirt and tie to every UVA football game. BUT, this time I feel as though I’m making a worthy exception!
I know that a lot of you that read this blog don’t live in or around Charlottesville, but for those of you that do (or for those of you that are coming into town for the game), PLEASE let me know where I can find you and thank you for your support and maybe have you share your cancer connection. I’ll be checking in all day on 4Square and Twitter, so I won’t be hard to find!
And for those of you that won’t be at the game and who I won’t be able to catch up with in person, tomorrow would be a great day to write about your cancer connection and be a guest writer on the site! You can simply email me your story and I’ll post it for you. Just let me know if you want me to use your name or not – it’s that simple!
I can’t thank all of you enough for your help and support and I hope that everyone has a fun and safe Labor Day weekend! Go ‘Hoos!
And, as expected, here is today’s poll:
Drew-
Drew H was nice enough to share his parking pass to Lot 126 in the West Lot. He is in Happy Valley supporting the Nittany Lions. As a Hokie, I don’t know the lay of the land, but I think this is a pretty convenient space.
The Slaters are hosting a tailgate with some RE3 folks and you should stop by. We’ll be there around 4. I’ll be in neutral colors as the Hokies are not in town.
Go H….. Sorry, still can’t do it.
Drew! thanks so much for shout out! Glad we could help and get you rolling!! Have fun at the game passing them out!!
Go Hoos!
