Hello Saints, Goodbye Ain’ts

The Saints are no longer known as The Ain’ts, but all of New Orleans remembers the days when they were.  I remember being a kid and listening to my Mammaw complain about how bad their were.  You couldn’t PAY people to go to the game.  Fans wore brown paper bags over their heads so people wouldn’t know who they were and that they were actually at the game.  Hence the picture on the left…

Anyways, while I was in New Orleans yesterday I met a guy named Kevin.  While he has a distant cancer connection that’s not what we ended up discussing.  When I explained to him what I’m doing with 29 Days Until 29 and how the whole ‘mission’ is to turn negatives into positives he got this HUGE smile on his face.  He went on to tell me about his new business venture: Who Dat Bags (www.whodatbags.com) — While I’m not in any way endorsing or hawking the product, I wanted to write about it because I think it’s GREAT!

Now that the Saints are The World Champions and tickets go for insane amounts of money (I tried to scalp a ticket last night, the cheapest I could find was $300.  Needless to say I watched the game from Pat O’Brian’s, which was serving free hot dogs and Zapp’s potato chips during the whole game) you don’t see the paper bags anymore.  In comes Kevin: taking the negative connotation of the paper bag and turning it into something positive!  He takes the bags, decorates them, and makes them something to be proud of and to be worn with pride!

Big props to you, Kevin, for finding a creative (and entrepreneurial) way to turn a negative into a positive!  WHO DAT? WHO DAT?
