The clock just passed midnight, so we are now officially only 5 days away from departure! Before I get into today’s topic, I want to take a moment to thank two people who have helped to make this entire journey possible. If you had asked me 2 weeks ago where this ‘concept’ would be on September 2nd there is no way I would have imagined we would be where we are today! Getting to this point has been a team effort and would not have been possible without the tireless work of Steinar and Marijean.
Steinar Knutsen – @steinarknutsen – The web guru! This site would not exist without his hard word. He is always putting up with my crazy ideas and questions!
Marijean Jaggers – @marijean – The PR Pro! I can rock sales and marketing, but, when it comes to PR, I simply defer to her!
Thank you guys for everything and a HUGE thank you to all of you reading this! The number of emails, comments, ‘Likes’, RTs, etc… is awesome and is what 29 Days Until 29 is all about!
Earlier tonight I got an email from an old college buddy of mine who lost his mom to cancer just a few years ago. He said he read my page and it prompted him to go back and re-read a eulogy that was read at the funeral and that it made him remember his mom on a random Tuesday night. A few minutes after that I got a message from a fraternity brother of mine who said, “Have hope – I know there are many life-saving or life-preserving treatments on the cusp. May they all work and may we find and end to the suffering.” These are the positive connections that make a difference!
Speaking of making a difference, tonight I’m rolling out a new feature! Polls on the website! I need you guys to help me on my journey and this is the best way that I could think of for some of the ideas that I have, so here’s the 1st one:
My 1st stop is in Boston, where I’ll be meeting up with and staying with a fraternity brother of mine. I’ve never been to Boston and he’s promised to show me around, but I want to get your feed back. You can vote for 2 options. If you have an idea that isn’t listed please leave a comment! Remember that I’m trying to meet people and engage them in conversation, so while ‘tourist traps’ aren’t ideal, please don’t send me some place too secluded!
You’re probably wondering why Fenway Park isn’t on the list… I was able to get a $16 ticket off of StubHub and will be going to the game against the Rays on the night of the 8th! It’s always been a dream of mine to go to Fenway and I’ll be hanging out in the ‘SRO’ section – standing room only!
With that it’s time for me to finally get caught up on some sleep! Let the voting begin!
I like what you’re doing. The website has turned out great! I’ve never been to Boston either so I couldn’t vote for your poll. I’ll be going sometime next month. I’m sure wherever you go, it’ll be great.
I love what you are doing and it is inspirational to me to know someone to embark on a journey such as this in order to raise awareness for the cause, instead of merely facing and accepting it as a fact of life. My only suggestion is please wear an O’s jersey at fenway, so that we can still hold out hope for you. Johnny O is turning over thinking of a fan going to fenway ….keep up the great work though!
Nick-
As much as I would love to, I don’t think I’m going to be able to pack a jersey for the trip!!! But hey, just think of it this way; at least I’m not going to Yankee stadium! The Yankees are still the bain of all things baseball. Silly Jeffrey Maier and the 1996 ALCS…
