I know that I’ve said this before, but each day I become more and more amazed at how the 29 Days Until 29 journey is growing and expanding in ways that I NEVER imagined 24 short days ago. I knew the ‘6 degrees of cancer separation’ concept would take things in new directions, but I’ve simply been blown away how far it’s gone! None of this would be possible without you; my friends, family, and total strangers, who have shared their cancer connections with me and told their friends about my journey.
Next week I start the part of my journey where things aren’t really planned out and I’m truly ‘shooting from the hip’. I’m hoping that you guys can help! Does anyone know anyone in Burlington, VT? I’ll be up there next Friday (the 17th) for a few hours and would love to meet someone and grab a bite to eat! On Saturday (the 18th) I’m flying into Denver and need a ride from Denver to Boulder. There is a shuttle, but if anyone knows anyone I figure it’d be a great car ride to trade stories and make new positive connections. On Monday (the 20th), I’m heading to San Francisco and need a place to stay on Monday night. I’m going to try the couch surfing thing that I’ve heard a lot of people talk about, but if there is an obvious connection that 1 of you can make that would be preferable!
I also need your help with this website! Lots of you have sent me emails, left comments on Facebook, ‘Liked’ the posts, etc… I’ve gotten so many supportive messages and for that I am SO thankful! I know there will be times on this trip when I’m tired, worn down, wondering what I’m doing, etc. and those messages help to serve as my reminder of why. I’d like to try to take 29 Days Until 29 to the ‘next level’ and have more interaction between all of you. That way all of you can share your connections with one another and build a broader community of positive connections.
I am asking that you email me your cancer connection story. My email address is drewlawrence@mac.com. I will post your story as your write it (unless I see a major problem with something, in which case I’ll email you back and we’ll figure it out). There are lots of different things that you can write about: whether it be something in memory of someone, talking about how a cancer connection has changed your life or your perspective, or writing about a cancer related cause, effort, or event, and, if you want to, you can include some pictures as well.
You are all a part of a team that is growing daily and I’d love to bring the team closer together thru your efforts! Thanks in advance!
Hey if you’re looking to rideshare, don’t forget craigslist.com they have a great rideshare section that I use frequently
GREAT IDEA! Thanks dude! What’s the rest of your month looking like? Are we going to cross paths again?
Thank you for what you are doing!!! My 6 year old son is fighting stage IV neuroblastoma now, as well my mom is fighting a relapes of stage IV ovarian cancer. Cancer sucks and any awareness and positive vibes we can create is a good thing. Thank you.
Couch surfing is great. I know the Denver/Boulder area has a couch surfing group you can join and post to to reach out to more than one person at a time. (Cville has one too but we are not very active). Don and I have hosted quite a few times and it’s always been a great experiment. I’d try asking for a ride and see what happens.
Burlington is a college town and has a downtown area that reminds me of cville. I’ve only been there once though.
Hey brother 0′ mine —
I always knew from the day you were born that you would do great things — Mom is cheering you on ( and, whew! she could really cheer loudly!) – just like I am. I’m proud of what you are doing to help all of us who have been touched by cancer. You are helping folks, Drew, and that what life is all about.
Less than 3,
Your sis, Maryclaire
